Bayn's first publication, The Beginnings of Dialogue, arose from a desire to revise the design dialogue that had become increasingly alienating and exclusive over the years. That was attributable to a lack of access to critical writing, theoretical frameworks for design in Arabic, and the underrepresentation of specific histories and protagonists.
The Beginnings of Dialogue addresses the implications of imagery and visual language in a range of daily spheres, spanning politics, religion, architecture, etc. The Arabic text appears in the foreground, whereas the English text is treated as footnotes in the publication, suggesting its reduced prominence.
