Conversations is a space for discussions and dialogue with invited guest writers, artists, critics, and curators on relevant topics, current events and exhibitions, modes of working, forms of funding, etc. It is divided into three sections;

At the core of our work is the principle of resource sharing among artists in the Arab world. Currently, we recognize the importance of assembling resources to aid the Moroccan people during these challenging times. Numerous individuals and organizations have been demonstrating various means of support and resource mobilization. In response, we aim to make a modest contribution by compiling and highlighting valuable resources and links that can assist in the ongoing earthquake relief efforts. We remain committed to updating and expanding these lists as we go.

We set out an open invitation for a discussion around application writing processes and the difficulties that come with them. We, as K-oh-llective, are emerging artists and often struggle with application requirements, be it budgets, timelines, proposals, etc. Through this open conversation, we tried to think together about all these frequently asked questions regarding applying for opportunities. The meeting took the shape of a participatory discussion, and the questions posed by the participants were the starting point, as we reflected together on the topic.

At the core of most collectives and activist artist groups is an ambition to redefine relationships between artists and the institutions that contract our labor, and think about the precarity of the working conditions in the contemporary art field as well as reflect ad respond to provide different solutions that fit each context. So we have compiled a list of collectives and artist groups who provide a range of interventions from case studies, artist-testimonies to statistical data and toolkits.

We created this platform with the intention of initiating conversations amongst artists in the Arab world, and we believe the most crucial topic to be discussed right now is Palestine. Many individuals and institutions have shown support and solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and we would like to make a small contribution by compiling and highlighting useful resources and links in support of the current Palestinian liberation movement. We’ll continue to keep those lists updated as we go.
